Instructors:
Glenn Duffield is a hydrogeologist and the president of HydroSOLVE, Inc., with over 23 years of consulting experience in groundwater flow and transport modeling, software development and aquifer test analysis. He is currently an associate editor of Ground Water and the author of AQTESOLV, which for over 18 years has been the world's leading software for the analysis of aquifer tests.
James Butler Ph.D., P.G. is the 2007 NGWA Darcy Lecturer and author of "The Design, Performance, and Analysis of Slug Tests" (Lewis Pub., 1998). For the last 20 years, he has worked as a research scientist at the Kansas Geological Survey. He holds a B.S. in Geology from the College of William and Mary, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Applied Hydrogeology from Stanford University. Jim also serves as a consulting hydrogeologist to federal agencies and private industry, and is currently an associate editor of both Ground Water and the Hydrogeology Journal.
Chris Neville, P.E. is Vice President and Senior Hydrologist with S.S.Papadopulos & Associates, Inc. in Waterloo, Ontario. He has eighteen years of experience in quantitative groundwater hydrology, with specialization in the interpretation of hydrologic data and the analysis of groundwater problems in complex granular and fractured porous media.
Dan Kelleher, P.G.
is a hydrogeologist and an experienced project manager. Dan's expertise is managing projects with multi-faceted field, modelling, lab and analysis components. Dan brings an in-field analysis approach for correlating geologic data and team collaboration where QA/QC is built in to the project from beginning to end. As a result of his approach, Dan s projects excel when unanticipated conditions arise.
Continuing Education Information:
1.6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) (16.0 Professional Development Hours)
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and a Course Completion Certificate will be administered by the Colorado School of Mines.
Most state professional licensure programs accept CEUs for this course.
Computer Requirements: You are encouraged to bring your own laptop to this course, however, computers will be available for an additional fee. If you need a computer, please let us know with your registration.
You will be asked to download the AQTESOLV demonstration version prior to the course so that you may perform exercises especially designed for this course.
Introduction:
Conducting aquifer tests in complex hydrogeologic settings such as heterogeneous or fractured media often leads to suspect data or unanswered questions after the field work is complete. Even when you are confident of the geologic conditions, you may have difficulty designing effective aquifer tests, running field equipment, or selecting the best available model to analyze the test data. Where can you turn to improve your approach and skills for hydrogeologic site characterization?
Midwest GeoSciences Group with Aquatic Life, Ltd. can help! We have designed a powerful two-day training course on aquifer testing design, field methods, and data analysis techniques featuring AQTESOLV and the In-Situ Level TROLL. This course will provide you with the knowledge to master aquifer testing from beginning to end--using world-class field equipment and aquifer test analysis software.
Bring Your Computer: Analyze data from a variety of hydrogeologic conditions and well configurations using AQTESOLV. Participants are welcomed to bring their own project data for analysis for QA/QC by the instructors.
